At Dockery Chapel we strive to Live the love of Jesus, connect the unconnected, and grow in our relationship with Christ by incorporating these six practices into everything that we do as a church and we encourage everyone to make these practices habits for their lives.
Spirit Empowered Prayer Prayer is vital and essential to everything that we do. It is how we talk to God and the source of strength and power for our lives. We need to spend time talking honestly with God about our lives, our needs & the needs of others. We need to ask God to search us, stretch us and lead us as individuals and as a church.
See 2 Chron. 3:17, Psalm 139, 1 Thess. 5:17, James 5:13-16
Life-Changing Worship Worship is our response to God's amazing love for us. We say "I love you" to God by offering all parts of our lives to God as worship. We are to worship together in community as the church and always as individuals by making worship a lifestyle.
See Romans 12:1, Mark 12:30, Col. 3:17
Risk Taking Mission & Ministry The love of Jesus requires us to lay down our lives for others. Christ's love is made real and we encounter Jesus when we serve one another. We grow in our faith as we use the gifts God gives us for the benefit of others. This includes our spiritual gifts as well as the gifts of our time and financial gifts. Service is an act of extravagant generosity & a matter of our hearts.
See Gal. 5:13, Eph. 2:10, Matt. 25:34-40, 1 Peter 4:10, 1 Cor. 12
Christ-Centered Fellowship Life change happens best in the context where we can know and be known, love and be loved, serve and be served. We need people who we can share our lives with and grow together in Christ.
See Eccl. 4:9-10, Acts 2:42, Rom. 12:15, Gal. 6:2, Heb. 10:24-25
Intentional Spiritual Growth God's desire for our lives is to transform and change us as we grow day by day to be more like Jesus. Our hearts, minds and character grow to be like Jesus as we intentionally seek God through devotion to God's Word, Spirit Empowered Prayer, Life Transforming Worship, Christ-Centered Fellowship, Risk Taking Mission & Ministry, and Radical Hospitality & Faith Sharing.
See Eph. 4:13-16; 2 Cor. 3:18; 2 Peter 1:21; James 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16; Phil. 1:6; Col. 1:10
Radical hospitality & Faith sharing We live the love of Jesus, connect the unconnected and grow in our faith as we share with others what Christ has done in our lives. We share our faith at all times and when necessary we should use words. Faith sharing requires that we reach out to those outside the church, like Christ, with the radical love of Jesus and connect people to God and to others, We strive to be a church where all people are welcome and we gather around out common need for God and community.
See Acts 4:20, 1 Peter 3:15, Matt. 4:42, Matt. 5:16, Acts 1:8
